We conducted an evaluation of the Okumidori Matcha Noike by assessing both the texture and flavor of the matcha. Our assessment includes identifying any presence of dryness, sweetness, minerality, or acidity. Additionally, we will assess the thickness and richness of the matcha, commonly referred to as mouthfeel. Finally, as matcha is known for its vegetal flavor, we will examine this profile, which is consistent across all types of matcha.

Krok 1 – Pozorování vzhledu

This particular Okumidori matcha powder exhibits a lighter shade of green, which can be best described as a delicate and subtle hue. The gentle green color of this matcha powder is one of its distinguishing features, lending a pleasant and soothing visual appeal to the overall tea-drinking experience.

Krok 2 – Posouzení aroma

The aroma coming off the Okumidori Matcha Noike as it’s mixed into water is rich and earthy with notes of dark chocolate in the nose

Krok 3 – Ochutnávka čaje

This Okumidori matcha begins smooth and mild and then later develops these slightly citrusy and nutty taste characteristics, with notes of spring grass and walnut. The tea leaves the palate with a slight dryness that lingers

Krok 4 – Vyhodnocení pocitu na patře

The structure of the Okumidori Matcha Noike is smooth and rich, which pushes the more citrusy and astringent flavor profiles to the mid-palate and the finish. The tea becomes dry only in the finish, but the citrusy and steamed vegetable notes are present in the mid palate.

Jak připravit čaj

While you can simplify this process if you prefer, we recommend you closely follow these steps to get the best results from your bowl of Okumidori Matcha. To prepare the Okumidori Matcha Noike, we recommend you to:

  • Krok 1

Begin by sifting 2 grams of matcha powder into your matcha bowl to remove any clumps caused by humidity.

  • Krok 2

Heat the water up to 70 degrees Celsius or 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Krok 3

Pour approximately 1 tablespoon of water into the bowl and mix the matcha powder into a smooth paste, ensuring an even distribution. Add 100ml of water.

  • Krok 4

Gently scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl to thoroughly combine the matcha with the water.

  • Krok 5

Using your wrist, whisk the matcha vigorously in rapid zigzag motions until a frothy, light green foam forms on top.

  • Krok 6

    Enjoy your Okumidori Matcha Noike

Nezbytné čajové nádobí

In order to prepare a perfect cup of matcha, you will require a few essential accessories. Firstly, a wide and shallow bowl, typically made of ceramic or porcelain, called a matcha bowl or chawan is a must-have, which is specifically designed for whisking the matcha. Additionally, you will require a bamboo whisk called chasen, which has numerous thin tines that are used to mix and froth the matcha powder with hot water, resulting in a smooth and creamy consistency. Furthermore, a bamboo scoop called chashaku is used to measure the right amount of matcha powder and transfer it to the matcha bowl, ensuring precise measurements every time. Last but not least, sifting the matcha through a sifter is a crucial step in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony as well as for everyday use to ensure that there are no clumps or impurities in the matcha, ensuring a high-quality cup of matcha every time.

Informace o farmě

The Okumidori Matcha Noike is named after Mr. Noike, a skilled farmer located outside of Kyoto, Japan. Originally residing in Tokyo, Mr. Noike made the conscious choice to lead a more serene life in the Japanese countryside. Here, he passionately tends to his small tea field, immersing himself in the art and intricacies of tea farming, resulting in the exceptional Okumidori Matcha Noike.

Získáno v Kyoto

Japonsko

The Okumidori Matcha Noike is cultivated in a unique location, nestled within a small pine forest just outside the city of Kyoto, Japan. This serene pine forest provides partial shading to the tea plants throughout the day, much like the traditional Kabuse shading technique. This natural shading from the tall pine trees adds a distinctive flavor profile to the tea, making it truly special and unique.

Kultivar a odrůda čajovníku

As the name would suggest, the Okumidori matcha Noike is made using the Okumidori cultivar. This tea plant varietal is well sought after for matcha because of the taste that it produces.

  • Okumidori

The Okumidori tea variety is highly acclaimed for its ability to yield teas that are exceptionally smooth and full-bodied. Often used in blends to balance out bitterness, Okumidori matcha also works well in single cultivar teas. Despite being more challenging to cultivate, the effort is worth it when it comes to creating teas like the Okumidori matcha noike, which has a deliciously smooth texture and taste.

Customer photo review of Okumidori Matcha Noike

Noike is a fairly green matcha with a twinge of yellow, the taste and color is decent for the price but note it’s not finely ground and creates a noticeably powdery drinking experience. Would be fine for beginners to try matcha, but most likely will not purchase again.

Very creamy, particularly good as a soy latte. Nice pick me up in the morning.

This matcha was a lot better than the matcha I've previously bought from the supermarket (a "ceremonial" matcha from a brand I no longer want to support, and even if I wanted to tastes horrible even in a latte.) This is definitely a step up from that, despite being in the same price range. It's still quite bitter and acidic, but it's a pleasant bitterness that leaves behind a coffee-like aftertaste. It's also a bit grassy and a bit umami, which I like. What I don't like is the powdery texture. It's astringent but not nearly as astringent as I expected. The powder itself smells quite sweet and grassy! Not the brightest green I've seen, but certainly a lot more green than the matchas I've tried before. I'm not sure whether or not I'd repurchase this. I seem to like it just a bit more every time I try it :)

My second time buying this brand. Went to try a more popular brand of Matcha wveryone raves about after running out and i did not like the taste! Returned right back to this one! Makes delicious lattes. Very great quality for the price point. Of course I will return to buy more soon!

I am enjoying this matcha for my everyday matcha latte! It mixes well with oat milk and honey. It is not too earthy and there is no bitterness/ fish like taste/ scent from it at all! Very good quality for the price and quantity. Will be ordering more in the future. Thank you.

Nice matcha, good value for money. Good colour, mixes well. Fairly strong, quite bitter but not overwhelming. Good on its own, great with almond milk, hot or cold.

This is an absolutely fantastic starter matcha. Affordably priced, not too intense in any particular direction, reasonably balanced. While it's certainly not top-of-the-line among Nio's other matchas, this one is a great option if your budget is tight or you're just not sure where to start experimenting with matcha. Slightly sweet, light astringency, with hints of nuttiness and mild umami, rounding out with a surprisingly enjoyable bitter sweetness!

I loved it! It has an amazing color and a nice sweetness but still a good bitterness! It was silky smooth but could have been a little creamier! Over all I loved it and it’s definitely worth a repurchase!💚

Customer photo review of Okumidori Matcha Noike

This is a really nice, strong matcha. I find it beautifully sweet and grassy with a little bitterness. I love using this matcha for latte with some fun flavors because the strength and bitterness stand up really well without being overpowered. My favorite combinations with this matcha powder have been a salted coconut matcha latte, a maple matcha latte, a mango coconut matcha latte (pictured), a sparkling yuzu matcha, and a raspberry matcha latte. I would probably use a subtler and sweeter matcha if I were drinking it alone, but this one is ideal for mixing.

Customer photo review of Okumidori Matcha Noike

I've recently discovered that I absolutely love matcha. I don't love how expensive it can be, however, so I decided to buy a pack of this affordable matcha from Mr. Noike. It's a fantastic beginner matcha if you don't want to go the latte route, as it has a mild flavor profile that's difficult to mess up. It's not excessively vegetal but it does have a pleasant umami that morphs into a mild dryness in the mid-palate, then rounds itself out with a nice, almost nutty finish and aftertaste. It's also very pleasant in color. It's also great for practicing how to make a good bowl of matcha because it seems to foam up very easily. It's not as good as the one Henta matcha they used to carry, which was sweet and my favorite so far, but for the price point, you really can't beat this one!

Okumidori Matcha Noike

little bit bellow my expectation, it wasn't sweet enough and too dry.

Okumidori Matcha Noike

Love Nio Teas and how they detail each matcha cultivar. So educational and makes me appreciate my matcha more. Love that this packs flat, great for travel and great price!

Okumidori Matcha Noike

I enjoy my matcha the price is right and flavor is smooth and not bitter

Okumidori Matcha Noike

All teas so have been above par. enjoying very much.

Okumidori Matcha Noike

I have tried many different types of matcha over the years but enjoy yours the most. It has wonderful flavor and I like that it comes from Japanese farms.

Okumidori Matcha Noike

Love the taste and smoothness. Arrived on time. Love your tutorials on the variety of quality. THANKS

Okumidori Matcha Noike

For this price, I wasn't able to find any better than this one. Highly recommended!

Okumidori Matcha Noike

It was absolutely delicious, lasted me a good amount of time, and was amazing quality for a lower price. Thanks!!

Okumidori Matcha Noike
